My Top 5 Party Outfit Picks!

Party Dress

It’s a sure thing that every Christmas the retailers are full of garments adorned with sequins and glitz to get you feeling in the mood for a party, but not everyone wants to resemble a glitter ball, so I thought I’d laser focus on five things to give you some alternatives that can help you on your way to feeling and looking fabulous this season.

If you’ve got a party to go to in a week or so and are panicking about what you can wear then fear not because sometimes it only takes a few tweaks or one statement piece to make an impact. So why not try these….

  1. Brooch Bling

Now I’m a firm believer that you can upgrade any look even at Xmas so it’s a good idea to use a few things you may already have. Get rummaging through your jewellery box for any brooches you can use, if not you can pick them up quite cheaply at any high street store. Flora or fauna are quirky and a good talking point but you can go for anything really to express yourself. Add to a plain polo neck (a small one on the neck or a statement one placed strategically to your chest) for an instant 'Chrimbo' look. You can even pin one to your clutch, scarf, lapel or dress for added oomph.

2 Festive Fabric

Velvet is one of this season’s touchy feely fabric and a luxurious one to boot. A nice tuxedo jacket or a pencil skirt in a rich burgundy hue would be to die for but if it’s a bit too exotic for your taste, try it in a heel or clutch. Here are some lovelies I found...

I also want to mention lace and its myriad of colours and patterns which can be found in blouses, shirts and overlaid on dresses. The gothic style black is a nod to sexiness whilst the purity of white in a shirt or blouse worn with leather or velvet oozes tactile heaven.

3 Statement Blazer

If simplicity is your thang and you’re comfortable in skinny jeans and a top then fear not, the statement blazer is your saviour to do all the work and add that festive twist to many a wardrobe staple, not to mention seeing you through for parties to come. Beading, embellishment or embroidery can 'maketh' the jacket so go for it and keep everything else low key. Boom instant style points.

4 Neckline Emphasis

Whether it’s an embellished collar or a pussy bow, a little bit of detail can give your face the attention it deserves and there’s a variety to try, but beware of the frills and ruffles if you’re a little short in the neck department or have a generous bust as you could get lost amongst the fabric.

5 Show off your Shoulders

At last something we can all flash…Its fair to say that a lot of the high street has followed suit with the designers ‘shoulders’ theme in their dresses this season and generally it’s a great feature for all, so check out ‘cut out’ or off the shoulder lovelies and flash that flesh girls…get your sexy back.

Well that’s my super quick tips done but I just want to say that there is one thing that I should have added and it’s by far the most important thing to wear……your smile!

Party on and have a Great Christmas and I’ll see you in the New Year!
